FC Bayern gets quality without end

FC Bayern will make changes in midfield for the next season. The only question is with whom. Perhaps a world star from France is moving to Munich?

FC Bayern Munich would like to strengthen their midfield position next summer. That is clear. Also because players like Corentin Tolisso, whose contract expires after the season, could leave the club.

Sports journalist Mirko di Natale from “Tutto Juve” from Italy has now brought a world star into play as a candidate: Paul Pogba. According to the report, Munich should actually try to get the French. The central midfielder is currently under contract with Manchester United in the Premier League, but his contract expires in the summer.

So Pogba would be available on a free transfer. And it has been known for a long time that he is not satisfied in Manchester. An interview with “Le Figaro” recently confirmed this impression once again. He spoke of missed titles that now need to be caught up – no matter which club.

It also fits into the picture that Bayern’s CEO Oliver Kahn recently met advisor Mino Raiola in Monaco. At first everyone assumed that it was about Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. But Pogba is also advised by Raiola.

It is unclear whether there is any truth to the rumors of a possible move to Munich. However, one thing is certain: every club in the world could use a top player like the 29-year-old Pogba. Or not? At least that leads to the question:

Should Bayern try to sign Paul Pogba?

Yes, Pogba can become the best player in the Bundesliga

Goretzka has missed 20 games of the season so far, Kimmich 8 – and each time FC Bayern had to make do with an emergency solution in central midfield. Whether it was called Roca, Tolisso, Sabitzer or Musiala.

It can not go on like this. Even if 19-year-old Grevenberch comes from Ajax, he’s just a talent. Bayern urgently needs top-level reinforcements here.

How fortunate that Paul Pogba, a world-class midfielder, is available on a free transfer. Of course, Bayern have to stretch their salaries to the ceiling, but in return they get quality without end. Pogba is experienced, two-footed, tall. A world champion, leader and genius game designer in his prime (29).

Above all, the Frenchman is extremely hungry for the title. He now wants to do what was not possible with Manchester United: win championships, cups and especially the Champions League. At Bayern he is exactly right.

Pogba can become the best midfielder in the Bundesliga, take jersey sales to a new level at the same time and generate huge respect from opponents in the European Cup just by being there. A brilliant transfer.

Again: Five years ago Manchester paid 105 million, his market value is still 55 million – and FC Bayern can now get him for free. He just has to hit it.

No, Pogba could cause trouble

Bayern Munich don’t need Paul Pogba because there is a better option. And her name is Ryan Gravenberch. The playing style of the 19-year-old from Ajax Amsterdam is even similar to that of the French, except that Gravenberch, who is still under contract with Ajax until 2023, is still young and would probably earn significantly less with the record champions than Pogba. But the most important thing: When it comes to football, he is in no way inferior to the French world champion.

And besides, it makes more sense for FC Bayern to get another young player in the central position. Because with Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Jamal Musiala, Marc Roca and currently Marcel Sabitzer and Corentin Tolisso, you are basically well manned in the center. That means: The new player must also be able to accept when he doesn’t play but just sits on the substitutes’ bench. That’s definitely possible with a young, inquisitive Gravenberch in the early years, with a world star like Pogba it’s difficult – and could cause trouble in the team.

In addition, Pogba has been extremely injury-prone in recent years. He has missed 67 games in the past three seasons. That’s too much – and should at least give the Bayern bosses something to think about.
