The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich have fought an important home win against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Euroleague.
The Munich team prevailed 70:52 (30:29) against the Israeli record champions, who are also fighting for the lower playoff places. The basketball Bundesliga club celebrated its twelfth victory in the 24th game of the season with a strong defensive performance. Corey Walden was Munich’s best point collector with 13 points.
At the beginning, however, the defense of the guests dominated the game, after seven minutes Bayern had only scored five points. The hosts reduced the lead to 13:16 after the first quarter with two threes. The Munich team found their rhythm in the middle of the second half and went into the dressing room with a 30:29 lead.
Bayern maintained this rhythm after the break, and they also defended well: they only conceded three points in the first five minutes of the third quarter. Above all, Nick Weiler-Babb set accents. The Munich team opened the fourth period with an 8-0 run, kept the guests without a point for four minutes in the first few minutes and gained a decisive lead to 57:41.
Bayern’s win against Tel Aviv confirms their recent strong form: they have won seven of their last eight games in all competitions.
