FC Bayern Munich can welcome 75,000 spectators to the upcoming home game against FC Augsburg on April 9 for the first time since November. This emerges from a cabinet decision on Tuesday.
“We are very happy, especially for our fans, that the full spectator capacity in the Allianz Arena will be allowed again. The fans are the essence of football and they close the games in our stadium, especially now, in the decisive phase of the season something unique. We will continue to take all necessary precautions to ensure the highest level of safety and the health of the spectators,” said Deputy Chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen on the homepage of the German record champions quoted.
The annual tickets are also valid again with immediate effect. According to the Bavarians, wearing a protective mask is no longer mandatory, but is recommended. The 2G regulation and the distance regulation for Munich’s home games are also no longer applicable. Alcoholic drinks will also be served again in the public areas.
The new regulations also apply to FC Bayern II home games in the stadium on Grünwalder Straße.
FC Bayern numbers are currently a third of the pre-Corona period
The abolition of the viewer limit means, above all financially, an enormous relief. In the 14 league games so far in the Bavarian state capital, an average of just 24,071 fans have been allowed to attend the games. At the top of the spectator rankings is Borussia Dortmund with an average of 29,884 supporters per home game.
For comparison: before the start of the corona pandemic, the BVB average in 2018/19 was 80,820, FC Bayern had 75,000 spectators.
Until the end of the season, Munich will still welcome FC Augsburg, BVB and VfB Stuttgart in front of their home crowd. Especially in the top game against Dortmund, a sold-out stadium should prove to be a real asset.
