Karl-Heinz Rummenigge praises the DFB coach-but also expresses sharp criticism of the coach. The reason: repeated statements by Nagelsmann.
Bavaria Munich’s long-time CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has suggested a greater reluctance in public appearance. “Julian Nagelsmann brings a lot of energy and conviction into his role – this is generally positive. But sometimes his appearance seems almost a little too demanding and extrovert,” said Rummenigge of the “Welt am Sonntag”.
He advises the 37-year-old to “practice a little more reluctance. Germany was always particularly successful if you did not necessarily chose yourself to the favorite, but went into the tournament with a shot humility,” said the 69-year-old: “Perhaps it would be smart to recall it. Julian Nagelsmann’s job is to develop the team further.”
The national coach had given the World Cup title as a clear goal. At the home European Championship, the DFB team failed in the quarter-finals in the later European champion Spain. After a 0: 2 against France, Nations League ended in fourth place in the game for third place.
