Could the corona chaos at Bayern have been prevented? In any case, the DFL had warned all Bundesliga clubs. The people in charge feared a chaos of appointments.
Corona dominated the headlines at FC Bayern for weeks. With a rump squad, the record champions then had to play against Borussia Mönchengladbach (1: 2) at the start of the second half of the season. Could Bayern have prevented that, maybe even had to?
According to a report by “Sport Bild”, the DFL had warned the Bundesliga clubs several times and pointed out the Corona issue, and also called for the greatest caution over Christmas and New Year. Two events and two letters – the DFL did not give up. The fear of a deadline chaos due to possible missed matches was too great.
The DFL asked, among other things, to avoid and significantly reduce private contacts. For this purpose, there should be a strict separation of vaccinated and unvaccinated people away from the lawn. The warnings seem to have not been taken seriously enough by Bayern: nine stars were missing against Gladbach because of a corona infection.
