FC Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano was racially insulted on social media after the 1-0 defeat at Lazio in the Champions League. FC Bayern reacted immediately.
Shortly after the disappointing defeat in Rome, FC Bayern showed a clear edge. “The racist comments on social media against Dayot Upamecano are absolutely despicable,” the German record champion said on the short message service you, Upa!”
Against Lazio, when the score was 0-0, Dayot Upamecano not only saw the red card for his foul in his own penalty area on attacker Gustav Isaksen (69th), but also caused the penalty, which ex-BVB striker Ciro Immobile then safely converted.
