For “all over place” instructions
Dayot Upamecano (24) is available again for FC Bayern after being injured in Wolfsburg (4-2) and, according to his own statements, can play against Bochum in the Bundesliga on Saturday and against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday. “There was a problem, but that won’t stop me from playing,” said the defender, who was disabled by complaints in the adductor area and on the toe, in an interview with “Sport Bild”. Another problem has long since been eliminated.
“Among other things, I had problems with speaking out loud, with shouting. After the games I often had a sore throat and was hoarse,” reported the defender and added: “That’s why I got help: I improved my vocal cords with an opera singer. We sang together, he taught me exercises. Now I can shout out loud, I can give instructions all over the place.”
With 2,199 minutes played, Upamecano is the second most played outfield player from Munich this season and has provided an assist in 27 games. In the course of the World Cup update, his market value took another leap up when he was revalued by €10m to the current €60m, which is only surpassed by five central defenders in the world – including team-mate Matthijs de Ligt (23). Upamecano only has words of praise for the Dutchman: “Matthijs is a wall, a real machine. He impresses me more every week. Our understanding is good, we talk a lot. His German is almost perfect, mine is getting better. It works very well on the pitch.” With just 18 goals conceded, the record champions have the best defense in the German top flight.

With a view to the round of 16 duel at PSG, the French international was confident: “Our goal is a win in Paris, we go in with this attitude. We’re not playing for a draw, that wouldn’t be Bayern-like.” Munich would have to be “ready and in top form” to prevail. “Whoever has the greatest hunger, the greatest greed for the title, will win the game – and in the end maybe also the title,” emphasized Upamecano.
