Former Munich head coach Felix Magath cannot understand Thomas Tuchel’s behavior in the dispute with Lothar Matthäus and Dietmar Hamann.
“Lothar Matthäus and Didi Hamann are there to observe the scene and make comments about what’s happening. It’s just a job like being a coach. In that sense, you can’t forbid anyone’s opinion,” said the 70-year-old Clear conversation with the “kicker”.
Magath continued: “As the opinion was expressed: I think Thomas Tuchel was far too sensitive. If you say that the team didn’t play well, you’re simply right.”
Tuchel ultimately became German champions with FC Bayern and will also be fighting for the Bundesliga title in 2023/24. Conversely, that doesn’t mean “that the games were always good,” emphasized Magath. “The commentators have said nothing else. That it doesn’t work 100 percent.”
Magath on Tuchel: “His problem”
His criticism: “If Tuchel ultimately puts on this shoe, it’s his problem.” After all, there could also be other reasons for the sometimes weak performances of the German record champions, who were eliminated early from the DFB Cup against third division team 1. FC Saarbrücken, Magath added.
