FC Bayern clearly beats Carl Zeiss Jena

For the men, Bayern have long been eliminated from the DFB Cup. The situation is different for women. They have clearly defeated Carl Zeiss Jena – and are in the semi-finals.

FC Bayern Munich’s women’s soccer team easily reached the semi-finals of the DFB Cup. On Monday evening, the German champions outclassed Bundesliga rivals FC Carl Zeiss Jena in their stadium 9-1 (5-1). Klara Bühl (9th, 39th), Jovana Damnjanovic (25th, 37th), Lina Magull (42nd), Saki Kumagai (55th), Viviane Asseyi (83rd) and Maximiliane Rall (88th) scored for the in favorites superior in all respects. There was also an own goal by Any Adam (77th). Also an own goal by Hanna Glas (40th) led to the consolation goal in Jena.

The Bayern women, who were last in a DFB Cup final in 2018 and lost to VfL Wolfsburg on penalties there, left no doubt from the first minute who would be the winner. The Munich women created chances every minute against the shockingly weak Thuringia, where some important players could not play due to corona infections. It was only thanks to Jena’s goalkeeper Inga Schuldt that the half-time lead for the guests was only 5:1.

Even after the break, the Bayern women, with coach Jens Scheuer replacing, were superior. However, the exploitation of chances left a lot to be desired.
