FC Bayern: Bryan Zaragoza has two role models

Bryan Zaragoza moved to FC Bayern early. The 22-year-old now wants to develop further in the Munich star ensemble – and, above all, learn from two role models.

Winger Bryan Zaragoza is pleased to be able to train with numerous top players at FC Bayern from now on. His idol has “always” been Lionel Messi, as he explained at a first press round one day after his early move to the German record champions.

But he also has role models in the Munich squad: “Here at Bayern it’s Leroy Sané and Kingsley Coman. I’m really looking forward to training with everyone.”

The Spaniard was presented as FC Bayern’s third winter signing on Thursday, a few hours before the transfer deadline. A transfer had actually been agreed with his training club FC Granada next summer. However, due to Kingsley Coman’s serious injury, Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund asked Spain again whether Zaragoza could be available six months earlier.

Already at FC Bayern: Zaragoza declares a turnaround

FC Bayern are loaning Zaragoza until the end of the season before the previously agreed agreement takes effect. According to media reports, a loan fee of around four to five million euros is due. A transfer fee of 13 million euros will then be paid in the summer.

After his move became known, the player always emphasized that he wanted to spend the second half of the season with the Spanish relegation candidate in order to help the club fight to stay in the league. However, the special situation at FC Bayern changed everything suddenly, says the new signing.

“We had planned for me to come in the summer. The situation is now as it is. People have to understand: for me this is a unique opportunity. I am grateful to Granada, but I couldn’t imagine this great opportunity to come here let it slip away,” said the winger, explaining the U-turn.

Bryan Zaragoza has made 21 competitive appearances in the Spanish upper house so far in his career, in which he scored six goals. He signed a contract with FC Bayern until 2029. In Munich he will now wear number 17.
