Bayern Munich’s basketball players have gained self-confidence before the EuroLeague duels with the big favorites FC Barcelona in the Bundesliga.
In the top game at the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, the team of coach Andrea Trinchieri prevailed 77:58 (30:36), consolidated second place in the table and also mathematically solved the playoff ticket. Ludwigsburg is fourth. Ognjen Jaramaz was Bayern’s top scorer with 14 points.
In the fight for the play-off places, the Hamburg Towers celebrated an important success with the 92:79 (47:41) at the Löwen Braunschweig. For the Jobstairs Giessen 46ers, staying up in the league after the 97:110 (54:56) against s.Oliver Würzburg is hardly possible given that they are eight points behind the saving bank.
Bayern have a hard nut to crack internationally next Tuesday and Thursday in the play-off quarter-finals at main round leaders FC Barcelona. Game three of the “best of five” series will take place on April 27 in Munich. Last season, Bayern narrowly lost to Armani Milan in the quarter-finals after five games.
