FC Bayern apparently fails with an offer for Konrad Laimer

An interest has been reported for weeks, and now the people of Munich seem to be going full steam ahead: According to information from “Sky”, FC Bayern made an initial offer in the courtship of RB Leipzig’s Konrad Laimer. But the buzzer is not enough, they say.

According to the TV station, the DFB Cup winner from Saxony wants around 30 million euros for the strong midfielder. The first official offer from Munich should be less than this amount.

How much the German record champion initially offered the people of Leipzig leaves “sky“Open. However, the requested sum is likely to be too high for FC Bayern.

Further details were not given on Friday, RB Leipzig is said not to have commented on the alleged offer when asked by the broadcaster. The only thing that is clear is that the Saxons want to keep their top performers.

RB Leipzig has already committed Laimer replacement

Speculations about a move to Munich have been going on for several weeks. Konrad Laimer is considered the player of choice for head coach Julian Nagelsmann, under whom he already played between 2019 and 2021. In addition to Nagelsmann, central defender Dayot Upamecano and midfielder Marcel Sabitzer also joined FC Bayern last season. With Laimer, FC Bayern would now have a player whose strengths lie primarily in pressing.

Laimer’s contract ends in the summer of next year, after which he could switch for free. According to the latest media reports, the Austrian international has long since decided to move to Bayern Munich, and he refused an extension in Leipzig.

In newcomer and Laimer compatriot Xaver Schlager, Leipzig already has a suitable successor for the midfielder in the squad. The 25-year-old Laimer has been with RB Leipzig since July 2017 and has made 109 Bundesliga appearances (seven goals) so far. His greatest success with the Saxons was winning the DFB Cup last May and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League in the 2019/20 season. At that time, Leipzig failed at Paris Saint-Germain.

On July 30th, the Saxons will welcome the record champions FC Bayern in the Supercup in the Red Bull Arena.
