FC Bayern: Alphonso Davies’ recovery after Corona “is going well”

Bayern professional is aiming for a comeback

Full-back Alphonso Davies from FC Bayern is looking forward to the planned full return to team training. “I’m happy to be back on Säbener Straße. The regeneration is going well so far. I don’t have any problems with my muscles or heart, but I’m not at 100 percent – yet! I’m just happy that I can train again and I’m ready to go to work,” said the Canadian international in one of the German record champions published interview.

At the beginning of the year, Davies was diagnosed with signs of heart muscle inflammation after a corona infection. Last week he was able to complete part of the team training again. “I give my best. I work closely with the medical department and the rehabilitation staff. And I train very, very hard with and without the ball, run a lot, do strength training. I hope to be able to help the team again soon,” said 21-year-old Davies, who remains the world’s most valuable left-back with a market value of €70m.

The past few weeks have been difficult for him. “The last four to eight were very boring, hard on my head. I made a lot of music in my studio. My family stayed here for a long time and I visited my girlfriend in Paris once or twice. And otherwise: wait, wait, wait…” said Davies.

Let’s hope that he’ll be fit again quickly and, above all, that he’s fully recovered or can.
His physique is currently missing enormously in our game and cannot be replaced. Coman is currently strong as a buck, but alone it is still a feat of strength, as he keeps running into the opponent’s defence. Davies simply brings this component back in at a level that hardly allows the opponent to catch his breath.
I look forward to hopefully seeing him again soon. I’m just …

Davies last played on December 17 in a 4-0 win against VfL Wolfsburg. In mid-March, Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann promised a comeback for the professional in “three or more like four weeks” because “he can only be put under moderate strain in the first week. (…) The fluid from the pericardium is gone, everything looks fine. We are satisfied and very happy with how it turned out and hope that he will find his footing again quickly.”

League leaders FC Bayern have to play at SC Freiburg after the international break on April 2nd. With seven games to go before the end of the season in the Bundesliga, Munich have a six-point lead over pursuers Borussia Dortmund.
