Alexander Nübel has again emphasized that he will definitely not return to Bayern Munich in the coming season. Even a comeback in 2023/24 is currently out of the question for the keeper.
The bare facts are clear: after moving from FC Schalke 04 in the summer of 2020, Alexander Nübel is still under contract with FC Bayern Munich until 2025. The goalkeeper is currently on loan at AS Monaco to gain match practice. The loan is dated until the end of June 2023. After that, the 25-year-old should actually start in Munich. But nothing will come of it, because top dog Manuel Neuer doesn’t think about quitting.
Therefore, an early return is off the table anyway. “It’s not an issue at the moment. If Bayern has something else in mind, we have to talk about it. But for me it’s not an issue at the moment,” said Nübel on “Bild”. And even then it should be difficult with playing time for the former Schalke and Paderborner.
“I don’t think Manuel Neuer will sit on the bench. If he’s there, he’ll play,” said the goalkeeper pessimistically, adding clearly: “I don’t think I’ll come back to Bayern in that time .”
Nübel: I wouldn’t sit on the bench again at Bayern Munich
At the moment, Nübel doesn’t seem to want to worry about the situation in Munich anyway. “If Manu now extends another three or four years and continues to play at the same level, that’s the case. If not, that’s different. The club decides that in the end. But that doesn’t matter to me now,” said the 1.93 meter great keeper, who is currently in the middle of the fight for the Champions League places with AS Monaco.
Despite the developments, Nübel does not regret the move to FC Bayern about two years ago. “I would do it the same way again. 100 percent,” he emphasized.
“In terms of quality, it’s the top in world football. I would always do it that way. You see where it’s going, where you want to go,” said the goalkeeper, but said: “Now I wouldn’t put more on the bench there.”
