Top transfer for Bayern. Now you finally have some decent offensive power on the right. But I wonder what impact this will have on the squad.
Nagelsmann is known to be a fan of the 3421 system. Now that he’s finally getting his offensively strong RV, he’ll nominally establish the system.
However, the squad is currently not designed for it
In central defense Lucas, Upamecano and Pavard would probably defend. As a backup you would have the often injured Nianzou and possibly Richards if those responsible see enough potential in him. But even with Richards, one defender would not be enough given the injury susceptibility of Lucas and Nianzou. Someone else has to come (probably Schlotterbeck)
Davies and Mazraoui would be set as attacking strong full-backs. Nominally, Nagelsmann would have a Davies backup in Richards. Not for Mazraoui, unless he plans with Pavard as RV and IV, which would speak all the more for the fact that an IV has to come
In the DM/ZM you have Kimmich, Goretzka, Gravenberch and Sabitzer in top quality. Even if Roca and Tolisso go, you would be broad enough
But now comes the problem: In the 3421 you only have 2 positions for 5 players. Gnabry, Coman, Sane, Müller and Musiala. That’s one player too many. Musiala can’t actually go into the CM either, because he performs better as an attacking midfielder and the CM is sufficiently occupied.
Coman and Gnabry didn’t really convince as rail players either, so you can’t plan them as a backup either.
Therefore, one of the 5 would have to be given up if you want to avoid unrest
Maybe Nagelsmann can also play permanently in 4231, the squad is more designed for that. But with Davies and Mazraoui you would have two extremely offensive variants. So it wouldn’t surprise me if Bayern were countered more often.

Since Mazraoui is a trained ZM and has been retrained as an RV, that would of course be very suitable for Nagelsmann’s system or his actual idea in the video.
But it’s also just a tendency as far as the system is concerned, there will always be changes, because unfortunately sometimes players who are absolutely necessary for your game idea are not operational (Davies and Goretzka have torn a hole here in the last few months) . Nagelsmann often adapted the system to the players who are/were available.
Bayern is specifically looking for variable players who can play multiple positions to keep the squad as small as possible. On the one hand, it’s about the fact that you’re not financially in a position to equip almost the entire squad with top players like other top clubs, and on the other hand, that you also want to bring in one or the other player from your youth. So I don’t really see an overcast or unrest. Coman and Gnabry are also -actually- prone to injury, as are Goretzka and Lucas.
My point of criticism at the moment is simply that, in my opinion, we have too few players who can hold the ball to slow down the pace and who are also technically able to easily free themselves from a pressing situation. Mazraoui and Gravenberch would be pretty decent – for that reason too.
Even if I would like to allow the existing IVs one more season, I would still prefer a technically stronger player who also has his strengths in the build-up!
