He arrives at the European battle in his native Germany with the limits of confidence exceeded
If Marc-André Ter Stegen had this course a kind of ‘ultimatum’ on the part of Barça’s public opinion, the truth is that we do not see the pressure anywhere. The German is experiencing the best start since he landed in Barcelona. One goal conceded in the first five league games (an average of 0.2 goals conceded per game), two in the first six official commitments.
In this impressive beginning of the footballer trained in Gladbach, obviously we have to mention a defense that is conceding much less. With the positions doubled and with additions of the stature of Christensen, Koundé, Bellerín or Marcos Alonso (plus the excellent form of Eric Garcia), Barça has a carat rearguard. And that security that he is transmitting (against Cádiz not a single clear chance was granted) generates a change, logically, in Marc’s state of mind and confidence.
THE SUPERCUP ‘CONEDNED’ HIM IN THE 2015/16
Taking a look at the (how time flies) nine seasons, counting the current one, which he has been at FC Barcelona, we find that it is his best start ever. And those are very big words. Since 2014/15 (he started playing only in the Champions League and Copa del Rey), the German had never experienced such a start. Reviewing the first six official games of each of his campaigns, we find that the best was 2016/17, when he conceded three goals (0.5 per game).
The worst was 2015/16. Because, almost exclusively, of the Spanish Super Cup. Athletic’s 4-0 win at San Mamés did a lot of damage.
