Scope for Cancelo & João Félix
Shortly before the end of the transfer window, FC Barcelona once again created salary leeway for the registration of the two last-minute newcomers João Cancelo and João Félix. The Catalans have given Eric García a season-long loan to FC Girona.
The homegrown player, who was brought back on a free transfer in 2021 after four years at Manchester City, still has a contract in Barcelona until 2026. After 36 appearances in the first season, the central defender increasingly slipped into the role of backup last year. García is the third player Barcelona will loan out on Deadline Day, after Ansu Fati (Brighton) and Clément Lenglet (Aston Villa). At Girona he is one of the most valuable professionals in the squad.
