pedria footballer for FC Barcelona and the Spanish national team, has taken advantage of his vacation to sponsor the agreement signed by the Club Deportivo Aliron Football Base Tegueste (CDAFB Tegueste) and the Kick Out Plastic Foundation, of which he is an ambassador. The Canarian has participated in the act that begins the collaboration between the team where he started playing football and the international non-profit organization that for two years fight for a world free of single-use plastics.

The event, held at the Ciudad Deportiva Los Laureles, headquarters of the CDAFB Tegueste, was attended by a representation of youth soccer kids from their home town, their parents and a delegation from the Tegueste City Council. “For me it is a tremendous pride that Kick Out Plastic collaborates with my town and with the club where I started playing as a child. When they proposed the initiative to me, I said yes without hesitation”, assured, satisfied, Pedri. The footballer has also referred to the imminent start of the preseason: “I already want to start training hard. This season comes loaded with important challenges”.

The event has served to inaugurate the professional water dispenser that Kick Out Plastic has installed in the facilities of the Ciudad Deportiva Los Laureles, for the use of players, coaching staff and the public. The objective of this action is eliminate the use of single-use plastic water bottles. The action has also allowed the delivery, by Pedri himself and the president of the foundation, Lars Böcking, of 400 reusable bottles for all the members of the club.

The activities have started first with a ‘clean up’ at Finca los Zamorano, one of the most representative natural spaces in Tegueste. For the Foundation, the agreement with the CDAFB Tegueste has an important strategic meaning. Short-term action is essential but the key generate ecological awareness and educate new generations to achieve long-term improvement. And although the foundation’s mission is global, two of its ambassadors, Pedri González and Omar Mascarell, are from Tegueste.
