The Barça player reflected that “ignorance is the worst of all ills, but it can be cured”
Koundé appeals for educational measures to combat racism than other more “easy” ones such as closing stadiums
Joules Koundé defended Vinicius Junior in a post on the social network Instagram. The blaugrana shows “all my support for Vinicius” and offers a long exposition of how it can be improved to eradicate racism.
For a start, Koundé points out that “discriminatory insults must not be tolerated or justified”. He doesn’t even want to analyze Vinicius’ gestures because “saying that a player’s behavior can cause racist reactions is changing the debate. We have to focus on solutions because unfortunately the problem is recurring and tarnishes the image of this League. This may be a minority fact, but that doesn’t make it any more acceptable.”
The justification of trying to make the rival nervous is not worth it either, far from it. “These people are deeply racist or are acting solely to destabilize? It’s hard to say. But one thing is for sure, words matter and actions have consequences“.
necessary measures
Koundé believes that action must be taken because “such behavior is against the law” and he does not see enough with closing stadiums. “it would be too easy“. The player wonders; “How could it be sanctioned outside of football? Is something really being applied? It’s enough? whatCan you imagine more educational measures and general interest?“.
His final reflection is that “ignorance is the worst of all ills but it can be cured. I still believe that everyone has the ability to reflect about their past behaviors, measure the damage they caused, and change for the better.
