FC Barcelona is in a mini crisis. After the 2: 3 against Eintracht Frankfurt in the European Cup, the “Blaugrana” had to accept the next home bankruptcy. In front of around 57,500 fans at the Camp Nou, Barça lost 1-0 to FC Cadiz with international goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen. The home fans acknowledged the result with catcalls.
Cadiz shot up from 18th place to 16th place and left a direct relegation zone.
Lucas Perez scored the decisive goal in the 48th minute. Barcelona missed to score despite numerous chances. Cadiz goalkeeper Ledesma stood out.
It is Barcelona’s first league defeat since early December. Most recently, coach Xavi’s team had won seven games in a row in La Liga.
Demonstration before the game
After the great anger at tens of thousands of Frankfurt fans in the Camp Nou in the 2-3 defeat in the Europa League, supporters of the club protested against the club’s management. Before the game against Cadiz, on the esplanade in front of the stadium, they called for the resignation of club president Joan Laporta.
“Laporta’s resignation” and “Barça, that’s us” they sang over and over again. The fan association “Nostra Ensenya” had called for the protest. The media estimated the number of participants at 100 to 200. Another ultra group, “Grada d’Animacio”, had even called for a boycott of the encounter.
