They consider that it should be held in person and online format since the latter model was allowed “exceptionally” due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
The purpose of the signatories is that the Assembly on the 21st “cannot be challenged” and “encourage and promote democratic values”
A group of FC Barcelona members has sent a burofax addressed to the club president Joan Laporta in which they show their disagreement with the fact that the club’s Ordinary General Assembly on October 21 will be held electronically and they ask that it be called again on another date so that it can be held in person and electronically.
A preventive cancellation
In the statement, addressed to the president Joan Laporta and the executive secretary of the Board Josep Cubells, the group of partners Jaume Llopis, Lluís Sabatés Porrera, Josep Lidón, Joaquim Molins, Ricard Faura, Jaume Barroso, Josep Maria Mir and Jordi Medina They assure that the purpose is “that (the Assembly) cannot be challenged by any interested person in addition to trying to foster and promote the democratic values (among others, transparency and participation) that are part of our associative culture.
According to the signatories, The Club’s Statutes do not provide for the Assembly to be held electronically “but only in person.” They refer to articles 27, 29 and 31 of the entity’s statutes.
They also consider that the call “does not specify how the identity and legitimacy of the members is guaranteed nor that all attendees can effectively participate in the meeting through the appropriate remote means of communication.”
Also They consider that the Generalitat gave the green light to the Assemblies in telematic format “on an exceptional basis” due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which included Decree Law 31/2020 of September 8, 2020, which has already been passed. Hence they request “an immediate rectification in order to avoid possible judicial challenges from the Assembly.”
