FC Augsburg: Uduokhai rejects extension – decision at Koubek & Iago

“We have to accept”

Defender Felix Uduokhai (25) has given FC Augsburg a basket and turned down an offer to stay longer with the Bundesliga club. “We made Felix an offer for an extension because we would have liked to have seen him in Augsburg for a longer period of time. However, he has informed us that he will not extend his contract,” said Augsburg’s sporting director Stefan Reuter.Augsburg General“. The working paper is only valid for the upcoming season.

Reuter also stated that the contracts of goalkeeper Tomas Koubek (30), full-back Iago (26) and winger Noah Joel Sarenren Bazee (26), which expire in 2024, will not be renewed. It had previously become known that Augsburg would let their captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw (32) go next summer.

Uduokhai was signed by VfL Wolfsburg three years ago and quickly became a regular in Augsburg’s central defence. Injuries then repeatedly threw the former U21 international back. He made 19 appearances last season. Its market value had fallen rapidly over time. The defender, who was nominated three times for the national team in 2020, was valued at 16 million euros at the beginning of 2022. Since then it has fallen by almost half. In the latest Bundesliga update, Uduokhai slipped to a valuation of €8.5m. In the FCA squad, the once most valuable Augsburger is in third place.
