Just a minor tendon injury
FC Augsburg’s Carlos Gruezo can travel to Qatar for the World Cup with Ecuador. According to the club on Sunday, the midfielder, who was injured and substituted in the 1-0 (0-0) Bundesliga draw against VfL Bochum, suffered “only a slight tendon injury in his thigh”. Ecuador’s World Cup squad will be nominated on Monday.
Gruezo had to leave the field after half an hour against Bochum. Disappointed, he buried his face in his jersey, which had a Bible message of faith written on it. The sad professional was comforted by teammates and those in charge.
“Carlos cried,” said goalkeeper Rafal Gikiewicz when the diagnosis was not yet certain. It’s also about a “huge dream”. In Group A, Ecuador will face Senegal and the Netherlands after Sunday’s opening game against Qatar.

“It’s four years’ work,” said captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, who also had to leave injured. However, the Dutchman is not nominated for the World Cup. He is subject to further investigations. The Pole Robert Gumny and the Swiss Rubén Vargas also tackled the departures to their national teams after the Augsburg game.
