FC Augsburg against 1899 Hoffenheim: TSG fan suffers blast trauma

Those responsible for the Bundesliga soccer clubs FC Augsburg and TSG Hoffenheim have unanimously condemned the throwing of a firecracker that caused a seven-minute interruption in the game between both teams. A spectator suffered a blast.

What Augsburg’s managing director Michael Ströll called an “unsightly situation”, Hoffenheim’s manager Alexander Rosen described on “Sky” as “merciless madness”.

The game (1:1) was temporarily interrupted by the prudent referee Felix Brych in the 56th minute. According to Ströll, a spectator from Hoffenheim suffered a blast when a firecracker detonated in the Hoffenheim fans’ block.

“We can only hope and pray that the injured person gets better,” he said, adding that a suspicious person is already being questioned by the police.

Rosen “expressly” thanked Brych and the Augsburg team for their overall level-headed reactions. “In such a catastrophic situation, you have to deal with each other like this,” he said, “the fact that the firecracker came from our corner is merciless madness that cannot be put into words. A very big apology from us.”
