From the Extra Secure Institution (EBI) in Vught, Ridouan T. communicated with the outside world via “compromised prison guards”. The American FBI warned the Dutch authorities about this in December 2020, writes NRC† That is before he received a visit from his cousin and lawyer Youssef T., who was seen by the Public Prosecution Service as the messenger of Ridouan T.
According to the FBI, T. “regularly provides resources for uncontrolled physical and/or electronic communications with third parties,” writes NRC. For example, Ridouan T. would have communicated via crypto telephones with Italian mafia boss Raffaele Imperiale about suspected drug deals.
The information from the FBI confirms what the Dutch police have already established; that another cousin of T. had tried to get a phone into the EBI by bribing, blackmailing and threatening guards, it said NRC.
Despite the warning from the FBI and other indications that T. continued to engage in criminal activity in the EBI, Youssef T. was admitted to the EBI in March 2021.
There were indications that T. could communicate with the outside world, a spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service (OM) confirms NRC† “This has been investigated, but no hard evidence has provided whether and how this could have happened. Therefore, in March 2021, there was insufficient legal ground to refuse his new lawyer.”
The Parool reported last Tuesday that the judiciary has extensive statements from an unknown witness who associates the suspected perpetrators of the murder of Peter R. de Vries with Ridouan T. According to the court, the new statements are reason to reopen the investigation.
