Favorable advice for demolition yard on the Waregem-Zulte border
They had submitted a notice of objection to Kruisem, as did many local residents. They fear nuisance, partly due to the dust and the arrival and departure of trucks. But according to the mayor of Kruisem, there will be an extra road, so that there will be no disruption. Joop Verzele, mayor Kruisem: “The slip roads of the E17 are on the other side of the zone. We are going to connect a new road there. This will be approved via the Spatial Implementation Plan of the province of East Flanders. We also had a conversation with the person from the company. We have expressed our views on processing, on noise pollution, on dust processing. That person has refuted that, that it will all be prevented with the most modern techniques.”
Katrien Vanden Broecke, action group against demolition yard: “There are no tractors on the E17. And we fear that mainly tractors will come here to unload. So that doesn’t solve the problem. In addition, other roads have already been destroyed by all that heavy traffic. As a result, we also destroy our tires.”
Ultimately, it is the province of East Flanders that will decide on a permit for the crushing yard.
