KLM has urged transfer passengers flying to Schiphol from abroad not to take any suitcases with them. “It concerns transfer passengers who travel from one European destination to another European destination via Amsterdam,” said a spokesperson.
If the final destination is Amsterdam, or when passengers fly from Amsterdam to another final destination, there is no problem, according to the spokesman. The company is struggling with a malfunction in the baggage system at Schiphol, the spokesperson confirmed after reporting by NH News. He couldn’t say when the outage will be resolved.
The airline’s website states that travelers within Europe can only take hand luggage. “We apologize for the inconvenience,” KLM said.
