Peter Römer, Thijs Römer’s father, hopes that his son will be able to start acting in films and series again after serving his sentence. “Such a case must be concluded.”
Thijs Römer has behaved exceptionally dirty. The actor has been convicted of abusing underage girls online and has to go to jail for a month. What if he’s out of jail? Then, according to his father Peter Römer, he should be able to happily start acting again in all kinds of major films and series.
Second chance
The Dutch public should also be able to put the abuse of young girls behind them at some point, Peter believes. “At some point such a case has to be concluded. We hope that Thijs will then be given the opportunity to continue. He is a man with many talents, so he will find his way again somewhere. Everyone deserves a second chance.”
How is Thijs doing now? He continues in the Story: “What shall I say? Thijs is working to ensure that he can continue again at some point. But he doesn’t see his future very brightly. It’s a matter of searching… But I have confidence in Thijs, and eventually he will get his life back on track.”
‘Your child stays’
Peter remains behind Thijs. “There is no recipe for how you should deal with this as a father. You just have to wake up every day, keep going and hope that at some point it will be over and things can be completed. I’m having a really bad year privately. But considering the circumstances, I’m doing quite well.”
He concludes: “Life goes on. Contact with Thijs is good. It’s still your child, right.”
