Sanil B. was sentenced to seven years in prison for kicking Carlo Heuvelman to death in Mallorca in July 2021. But his father, Youness, is convinced of his son’s innocence. He has a special reward for the golden tip that leads to his son’s acquittal for manslaughter of Heuvelman: his own snack cart.
Sanil B. was sentenced to seven years in prison for kicking Carlo to death and for attempted manslaughter on two other victims. According to the court, Sanil raged the hardest during a night full of violence on the boulevard El Arenal in Mallorca in July 2021. Several groups of Dutch people were involved. Sanil has the kicking of the lying Carlo always denied. His father also firmly believes in his son’s innocence.
“I can hardly give a bicycle,” says Youness when asked why he wants to give away his living for the golden tip. “There are quite a few people who want their own business. With my snack cart and the 15,000 euro reward from the judiciary, I think you will get to 30,000 euros.” At the end of 2021, the Public Prosecution Service already offered 15,000 euros for the golden tip, but that has not been paid to date.
He wants the bottom stone to come out in his son’s case, because according to Younness, his son’s conviction is a ‘miscarriage of justice’. “The whole thing is really chaotic. They only investigated my son’s group, because GeenStijl said that a group of boys from ‘t Gooi was on the warpath. They did not look at those other groups at all.”
“At the judiciary they thought: ‘Oh, those are those cockroaches from Hilversum.’ Then they got tunnel vision and then it’s done,” concludes Sanil’s father. “Not much is true about the rest of the evidence. Why are so many witnesses doubting whether Sanil kicked? Why isn’t that being investigated better?”
Missing video footage
He is mainly looking for video images of the fatal assault, because they are still missing. To get that out on the table, Youness is now praising his snack cart for the golden tip that ensures that his son does not have to go to jail before seven years.
He doesn’t mind losing his job. “My son’s freedom is the most important thing. I’ll find something new to do. You have to do your best to get him out, because I know he’s innocent. For the fights and the other things, he will be punished anyway and he deserves it. But not for things he didn’t do.”
“We must not forget that it is the worst for the relatives”, he wants to add in conclusion. “They have lost their son or friend. But my son should not wrongfully go to prison for that.”
