Father of missing Yoran (16) thanks everyone for helping to find his son: ‘We are speechless’ | Domestic

The father of missing Yoran from Sleeuwijk thanks everyone who helped search for his son on Saturday. It became the largest citizen action ever in the Netherlands. ‘We are silent and it feels unreal that this is about us.’ writes his father Daniel on social media.

Yoran has been missing since December 24. That evening, the Sleeuwijk teenager had gone to the De Pomp youth center in Almkerk, about 5 kilometers from his place of residence. He left there at 12:30 am. A little later his bicycle was found in the middle of the Merwedeburg, neatly locked.

Last Friday, his jacket was found in the Merwede river near Papendrecht after a tip. The search continued on Saturday. It brought together an unprecedented crowd of people. Citizens’ initiative Coordination Platform for Missing Persons (CPV), which coordinated the search, expected hundreds of people, but no fewer than 2500 people from all over the country.

Keep looking

Despite the search, Yoran has not yet been found. “Fortunately, the awareness surrounding this campaign has ensured that Yoran’s jacket was found. The Police, various organizations and many citizens continue to search for Yoran. We hope and pray that he is found quickly and that everyone remains alert and continues to search.” Daniel said on Facebook.
