Father and son in the same police force: ‘Dream come true’
Yaron Landuyt: “This is a childhood dream come true. Yes, it is. My father used to tell all those stories at home, and now I can experience it myself. That’s great.”
Joeri Landuyt: “He always knew that I worked for the police. I sometimes talked about it at home, but never with the intention of pushing him in that direction. It was his own idea to join the police. That I liked it, and I’m very proud of that now.”
Joeri is a community police officer in Torhout, Yaron starts working at the intervention service. Collaboration is therefore not an option for the time being, but father does assist son with advice and deed. “I myself look back on 22 years of career. I have made mistakes, but I have also done good things. I try to pass that on to him, also with the legislative framework, and procedures. I try to give my own opinion on situations, but it will be he himself who will have to do it.”
