A 57-year-old man from Belarus was arrested on Monday morning in connection with the violent death of a truck driver at the Hazeldonk-Oost border crossing near Breda. The victim was found bleeding profusely in the middle of the parking lot at the gas station on Saturday evening, October 21. The victim had been stabbed with a knife. Resuscitation was no longer possible.
Detectives then approached all truck drivers who were then in the parking lot. The drivers of the cars that left the parking lot were also questioned. Furthermore, as many camera images as possible were collected.
The TV programs Bureau Brabant and Opsporing Verzocht have called on witnesses to respond several times in recent weeks.
Through the extensive investigation, the detective team found the 57-year-old man, a fellow countryman of the victim. He was arrested in the north of the Netherlands. The man has been detained.
