On June 13, Metallica will bring out a comprehensive revised new edition of her sixth studio album “Load”. The remastered version appears via Blackened Recordings in several physical and digital formats, including vinyl, CD, cassette and as an atmos of spatial audio.
The focus is on the “Load (Remastered) Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set”. In addition to the newly mastered original album, the box contains some previously unpublished recordings from the production and tour phase from 1995 to 1997. This includes demos, Rough Mixes, live recordings and archive material.
Pre -ordered content and formats
By pre-ordering the deluxe box, buyers receive immediate access to several tracks, including:
- Until it sleeps (remastered)
- Until it Sleeps (Herman Melville Mix)
- Fobd (Rough Chorus Vocal Idea Mix)
- Until it Sleeps (Live at Slim’s, San Francisco, 1996)
In addition to the limited deluxe edition, “Load” (remastered) is also published as a 2LP (180 g vinyl), standard CD, cassette, expanded 3CD and digital version. The extended version of “The Outlaw Torn” appears completely for the first time after it was shortened in 1996 for capacity reasons.

The box contains:
- The remastered “load” album on 180 g vinyl
- A mom Said Picture disc
- Loadapalooza ’96: 3LP recording from the Lollapalooza appearance in Irvine, approx.
- 15 CDs with studio and live recordings, riffs, rarities, B-pages
- 4 DVDs with archive material, Behind-the-scenes videos, TV and radio appearances
- Memorabilia such as tour poster, patches, lyrics, pick-up and a 128-page book
Historical context
Load was originally released on June 4, 1996 and was the second Metallica album, which reached number 1 on the Billboard 200. Production took place in The Plant Studio in Sausalito, California. Two of the singles, “Until it Sleeps” and “King Nothing”, are regularly part of the band’s M72 World Tour.
