Fastest weekend increase in corona rooms hospitals since March | Inland

Hospitals are getting busier with people who have tested positive for the corona virus. They are currently treating 842 people who have the virus, reports the National Coordination Center for Patients Spreading (LCPS). That is the highest number since August 5, almost two months ago.

Since Friday, the number of people admitted with corona has increased by 146. That is the largest increase over a weekend since March 14. The hospital figures are not updated on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Last Monday the hospitals treated 601 people who tested positive and the Monday before that 466. That means that the occupancy has increased by just over 80 percent in two weeks. If this increase continues, hospitals will treat more than a thousand people who have tested positive in a few days.

The LCPS figures do not distinguish between people who were admitted because of their corona complaints and people who had other health ailments and also happened to be infected. The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) does use that distinction and actually sees more admissions due to corona. The institute takes into account that the autumn wave has started.

Largest influx

In the past day, 149 people with a corona infection were newly admitted to a hospital. That is the largest influx since July 26. On the other hand, people also leave the hospital, due to death or because they have recovered sufficiently. As a result, the influx is never entirely equal to the net increase.

It is especially busy in the nursing wards. There are now 798 positively tested people. That is 143 more than Friday and 230 more than Monday of last week. 44 patients with corona are now in intensive care, three more than Friday.

In the meantime, the cabinet hopes to be exactly on time with measures with a new round of vaccinations. The repeat shot should keep this autumn revival of corona small.
