“I want accelerated procedures for climate glue,” demanded Berlin’s governor Kai Wegner (50, CDU) in May in the BZ

Balance sheet after eight weeks: All quick trial attempts by the judiciary have failed so far!

FIRST ATTEMPT: ABORTED. On July 11, Julian L. (35) from Regensburg is on trial in Friedrichshain for a road blockade eight months ago. After hours of negotiation, the judge gives up: the facts are simple, but the evidence is unclear, so unsuitable for a quick trial.

SECOND ATTEMPT: BLOWN OFF. Mandus C. (39) is threatened with trial on July 18, also a roadblock from November 11, 2022 in Friedrichshain. The evening before it became known: the judge called off the process because “video material did not reach the file in time”, “witnesses have to be identified”.

THIRD ATTEMPT: MISTAKE OF FORM. On the same day, Simon S. (26) is to be sentenced in a fast-track procedure. It’s about graffiti on the FDP party headquarters in Mitte on April 13, 2023. But: “The court had to cancel the appointment because the defense attorney had accidentally not been invited in the formal way intended,” said court spokeswoman Lisa Jani at the request of the BZ
