Fast Retailing, the parent company of Uniqlo, files a lawsuit against Shein. The Chinese fast fashion giant is said to have copied Uniqlo’s popular shoulder bag. Fast Retailing demands the immediate cessation of sales of the counterfeit product and compensation for the damage caused to the company.
Fast Retailing filed the lawsuit on Dec. 28, 2023, the company said Tuesday. Shein is said to be selling a shoulder bag that is very similar to Uniqlo’s. This will significantly undermine customer confidence in the quality of the Uniqlo brand and its products, Fast Retailing said.
Uniqlo’s shoulder bag was included in the Lyst index in 2023, making it the cheapest product ever featured in the “Year in Fashion”.
The genderless half-moon bag for 15 euros has become known not through influencers but through classic word of mouth because it offers a lot of storage space for such a format.
