It was about half past one in the morning local time when Wilma Murtoa the minibus that was transporting stopped in the yard of the hotel used by the Finnish team in Budapest.
About a dozen Finnish athletes had gathered there, as many members of the team’s background group and a few people from the close circle of the bronze hero.
One Lord had a bottle of sparkling wine. He uncapped it and sprayed the fizzy drink over Salo’s cheek.
– I can’t see anything, Murto announced.
Then he grabbed the reins and took the hoe.
Finns hugged their hero and shouted Wilma, Wilma, Wilma!
– What should be done in such a situation, asked Murto, wet with sparkling wine.

– There are little things for everyone, the manager said.
Juhlakansa demanded that Heiska open a spike in the hotel.
Heiska smiled and carried three wine bottles to the cabinet.
