FashionPower presents its first sustainability report

A code red for humanity”. This is how UN Secretary-General António Guterres described the UN report published in August 2021, which concludes that unless emissions of greenhouse gases are drastically reduced, humanity is at risk of catastrophic climate change. But man didn’t have to read the 4,000-page report to know that, extreme weather events have dominated the news in 2021, as they have for much of the past decade The impacts of environmental and climate change are a very real challenge for all of us, and we everyone has to do our part.FashionPower FEEL RESPONSIBLE and ACTS SUSTAINABLY.They aim to improve their impact on the environment and society and ensure that everyone who works on or wears their products does so with a smile can do.

FashionPower released its first sustainability report this week, outlining its mid- and long-term vision and goals, providing transparency on its operations and reporting on its sustainable performance up to 2021.

The apparel industry is the second largest polluting industry in the world and will face tougher legislation to regulate its environmental impact. This will pose major challenges for the industry in the medium to long term.

However, FashionPower has always been innovative when it comes to sustainability and produces according to its own motto: FEEL RESPONSIBLE. ACT SUSTAINABLE. For FashionPower, sustainability is about building resilience and flexibility into the business, rethinking its consumption and processes to be as sustainable as possible by 2030.

The main conclusions of the report:

  • Through an innovative look at the use of materials and the dope-dyeing technique, FashionPower has saved 23 million liters of water.

  • Together with its partners, FashionPower has taken further steps to further improve the sustainability of its processes. These partnerships address the actions needed to phase out all remaining chemicals and recycle wastewater.

  • By implementing a solid chemical management concept, FashionPower has managed to eliminate 62 tons of chemicals (for functionalities) and 76 tons of chemical dyes from its production process.

  • 100% of the supply chain is checked for compliance with social standards. In addition, FashionPower has introduced an additional method to verify and control more documents to ensure living wages and social security.

  • FashionPower has renewed its product development with a 3D method. This reduces the number of packet streams and makes work more efficient.

  • All these efforts have led to a place in the final of the German Sustainability Award in 2022.
