From February 11th to 13th, the British fashion trade fair Scoop returns to its traditional location at Olympia West in London’s Kensington district. There she will present an expanded range of 250 designers from the areas of women’s and men’s fashion, living, beauty and lifestyle. In 2024, the event will be themed ‘A Return to Wonderment’, where visitors are invited to “explore romance and glamor whilst embodying quintessential British charm and humour”.
“Scoop excels at constantly evolving to showcase young and emerging brands from around the world that could have a big impact on the UK market,” said Karen Radley, founder of Scoop, who curated the selection of participants. “The new designers of the season are unique, with innovative and attractive collections that visitors to the trade fair will be excited to discover.”
Once around the globe
The focus is on supporting international brands, which is already evident in the list of this year’s new arrivals. Fashion label The New Society draws on its Spanish heritage to design its women’s and children’s wear, while India-based fashion house Tanavana blends tradition with cultural modernity to create contemporary pieces with signature colors and prints.
The zero-waste label Storywear, founded in Taiwan, will also be represented at the fair with a collection that is “made 100 percent from upcycled denim jeans, factory waste and other fabric scraps.” The brand uses its platform to advocate for a circular economy while supporting makers from disadvantaged backgrounds – a concept that has already earned it prominent spots at Taipei and London Fashion Weeks.
Strong presence of French brands
The trade fair seems to be particularly popular with brands from France, which will be present at the trade fair in large numbers. Newcomers to this year’s edition of Scoop include 17H10 Paris, a suit specialist that relies on “responsible fabrics” to create its feminine cuts. The Parisian design studios Diega and Wild integrate cultural influences into their collections, while the Tara Jarman brand focuses on color design.
Other representatives of French labels include Les Racines du Ciel, a specialist in alpaca wool, and MoEa, a sustainable sneaker brand that uses organic materials for its shoes. Fashion outfitter Mat de Misaine will provide a maritime flair, while designer Ines de la Fressange, a well-known trade fair participant, will be represented.
