Metaverse to touch: The Berlin Fashion Hub brings phygital exhibitions to the capital

In the Berlin Fashion Hub, which is officially called “Vorn – The Berlin Fashion Hub”, visitors to the “The Hooked Loop: Pleasure as a way of escape from a dysfunctional System” exhibition can immerse themselves in the Metaverse. The exhibition was set up by the young designers of the Vorn Academy, the Berlin Fashion Hub announced. Already in October, FashionUnited reported on the plans of the Berlin program and the associated academy, through which ten young talents should learn for eight weeks how fashion is designed digitally and circularly. In the end, nine designers took part in the first edition of the workshop. The resulting three-part phygital capsule collection is now presented to visitors in an immersive exhibition.

The phygital exhibition will take place during Berlin Fashion Week from January 18th to 20th at the Lighthouse of Digital Art in Berlin.

Balenciaga Black at the Kunstmuseum in The Hague

The title ‘Balenciaga – Masterful Black’ does justice to the content of the exhibition in the art museum. A selection of 56 creations by the late fashion designer has been brought to The Hague from Paris. They convey a striking and complete picture of Balenciaga’s visual play with black, a play in which form and texture are central.

The exhibition ‘Balenciaga – Masterful Black’ can be visited until March 5, 2023 at the Kunstmuseum Den Haag.

Newton and advertising photography

The “Brands” exhibition in the Museum for Photography in Berlin shows previously unseen advertising photos by Helmut Newton. Around 200 works from collaborations between the world-renowned photographer and brands such as Blumarine, Chanel, Absolut Vodka, Swarovski and Lavazza will be on display. According to the museum, around half of the motifs are still unknown. Newton (1920-2004), whose photographic estate is managed in his native Berlin, had worked for luxury brands and advertising agencies in the 1980s and 1990s.

The ‘Brands’ exhibition runs until May 14th at the Museum for Photography in Berlin.
