Fashion Council Germany and Vogue promote young design talent

Young design talent is now also being promoted in Germany.

The German industry association Fashion Council Germany (FCG) and the fashion magazine Vogue Germany have announced the launch of their partnership ‘FCG/Vogue Fashion Fund’. The FCG announced on Tuesday that this is intended to send a clear signal for the promotion of German fashion.

The ‘Fashion Fund’ is intended to provide young designers in particular with a platform to provide them with the best possible support as they enter the industry. Access to the internal network of the project partners and extensive networking opportunities should be available to all participants.

As a year-round project, applications are open to fashion designers and brands based in Germany from now until April 15th. The prerequisite for participation is a “creative and innovative approach” being pursued and a business activity of at least one and a maximum of four years.

“The promotion of young and exceptional talent has been close to our hearts at FCG since our founding in 2015 and thus forms the basis of our work,” said Scott Lipinski, CEO of FCG. “In our projects, we always focus on supporting and supporting emerging labels and designers in and from Germany in every phase of their careers. With the ‘FCG/Vogue Fashion Fund’, we have now launched an initiative together with Vogue Germany with which we will support extraordinary design talent not only financially, but also with an extensive mentoring program.”

The fund’s initial project was launched in the USA in 2003. Every year, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the US edition of Vogue award a prize worth 300,000 US dollars (around 284,000 euros). The well-known winners include the American designer Christopher John Rogers, the French-American fashion designer Joseph Altuzarra and the German designer Melitta Baumeister, which won an award last year. Other local editions of the format can be found in Great Britain, Spain and China.
