The logistics location at Leipzig/Halle Airport is being expanded. The Munich-based company Mytheresa, an online platform for luxury fashion, is constructing a modern new logistics building of around 55,000 square meters directly at the airport in Schkeuditz, as the company announced on Wednesday.
“We are very pleased to have reached this important milestone right on schedule, as it brings us a big step closer to our goal of being able to serve our customers around the world and here in Europe even faster and better,” said the head of IT operative business at Mytheresa, Sebastian Dietzmann, on Wednesday at the topping-out ceremony. The first 500 employees are scheduled to start work at the logistics center in mid-2023. In total, more than 1000 jobs are to be created at the site by 2030.
Saxony has developed into an important international logistics location in recent years and the Leipzig region is an important hub, emphasized Saxony’s Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer. With the settlement of Mytheresa and the planned investment of millions by project developer Intaurus, the location will be further strengthened, emphasized the CDU politician. “This is an extremely positive development, especially against the background of structural change in the central German mining area.” (dpa)
