Farmers want to shut down the country from Monday: ‘The whole of the Netherlands is flat’

Angry farmers plan to revolt again on Monday, July 4. Bigger, longer and in more places, if we are to believe the first plans. “The whole of the Netherlands flat”, is written in various Telegram groups. In Brabant, farmers want to go to Eindhoven Airport, Jumbo in Veghel and the border crossing at Hazeldonk, among others.

“Our government is not yet impressed by the actions of the agricultural sector and rural people,” the message from the farmers begins. “Time for major promotions from Monday 4 July. The Netherlands closed, but keep it tidy.”

Ultimatum for The Hague
The farmers give The Hague an ultimatum. According to them, the actions can only be stopped in one way. “Until this time, our government has time to throw the plans in the trash.” If the nitrogen plans are not yet off the table by Monday morning, the farmers want to ‘flatten the entire country’.

The locations are not yet very concrete, but the initial plans include Schiphol, Eindhoven Airport, The Hague, the port of Rotterdam and all distribution centers for foodstuffs. This concerns the Jumbo in Veghel, Albert Heijn in Tilburg and SPAR in Waalwijk.

In addition, there are talks to ‘close’ all major polluters in the Netherlands and to block major border crossings such as the one at Hazeldonk. “And we won’t open it until our government changes plans.”

Water balloons with paint
The call is circulated in various Telegram groups containing two to ten thousand angry farmers. The intention is that local ‘app groups’ will organize the campaign in their own region.

In addition, ideas are exchanged in the chat groups to hinder the police and riot police. Like throwing water balloons with paint and olive oil in them at riot police, so that they can’t see anything anymore and can’t move on. “We have to exhaust the agents,” is the plan shared online. “We are more, keep agents busy as long as possible so that enforcement is no longer possible.”
