Farmers protest through North Holland: with tractors on Dam Square and Mediapark

A number of angry farmers drove to Dam Square with their tractors. At the moment there are about thirty. Protesting farmers are also present at the Media Park in Hilversum and protests are taking place along various highways.

About 40 farmers with tractors moved from the A1 near Eembrugge to the Media Park in Hilversum on Wednesday evening. When asked, the police say that they are in good contact with the farmers and that they are monitoring everything. At around 10.45 pm, the farmers are still present in the Media Park and are blocking various roads there.

Protest on Dam Square

A group of farmers also drove to Dam Square tonight with their tractors to demonstrate against the cabinet plans. There were about fifteen in all. The atmosphere was friendly, nothing was blocked. The farmers were standing on the Dam for the tractors with a beer.

There were, however, banners with less friendly texts such as ‘the war has begun, and we are winning’. The police are also present with a few cars, but are not doing anything for the time being.

The tractors are on the square and therefore do not block roads. The demonstrators present, about 30 men and women, took a group photo in front of their tractors with the palace in the background.

Highway Zwaagdijk

At around 8 p.m., farmers also gathered on the Rijweg in Zwaagdijk. Farmers set fire to hay bales and car tires. The fire brigade extinguished the fire after an hour. The police were on the scene, but did not act.

Also on other highways there is nuisance due to the protest of the farmers.
