Farmer’s protest A9 takes a turn: farmers pick up Cas, Kees and Pieter Jan at Alkmaar police station

Angry farmers drove to the police station in Alkmaar tonight to ‘liberate’ three farmers. Farmers Kees, Cas and Pieter Jan were arrested earlier tonight during farmers protest on the A9. Other farmers did not accept this and decided to drive to Alkmaar with a group of tractors.

And there they are, the farmers of the farmers’ protest on the A9. Dozens of farmers have gathered at the police station in Alkmaar. In total they came with about 10 tractors and they carry a sign with: #Free Kees and Cas with him.

The group of farmers does not agree with the arrest of the farmers, whom they know well. Cas drives a truck and is the son of dairy farmer Kees Wempe. They were arrested tonight on the A9, just like the farmer Pieter Jan Pronk, because they did not follow instructions from the police.

A spokesperson for the Noord-Holland police said earlier this evening that he was aware of the group at the station. “We are talking to the farmers and that is going well. At the moment they are waiting for the people who have been arrested to be released again.” The three farmers have since been released. One of them has had their driver’s license recovered.

‘Were stuck’

Our NH news reporter was on site and spoke to Kees Wempe, who had been released this evening: “From 6.45 pm I have been at the police station, arrested. We just drove with the whole group and then they jammed us.”

Kees was interrogated and says about this: “They ask why you participated, but yes that is generally known. I have not yet received a fine, but I have signed a statement.”

Kees was met at the desk with beer and ‘tractors’. And what they yelled when he came out? “Congratulations you’re out man!” The farmers are at war with the cabinet and the answer is whether this goes too far? “What should we do differently, we’ve already given so much evidence that it has to change, but they lie and cheat.”

Another farmer adds: “We support each other, we can’t be torn apart. They can’t say that in the city, but they can’t tear us apart anymore.” It gave Kees a strong feeling that everyone is here. “This is not going too far, this is the framing. We have been pleasant today.”

Now that the three farmers are free again, the farmers are returning home with their tractors.
