Farmers Maarten and Christoff are no longer allowed to spray their vegetables due to drought: “If this leads to a shortage, the consumer ultimately pays the price”

The drought is worrying many farmers and horticulturists. Moreover, in several provinces there is a ban on pumping up unnavigable rivers. This is detrimental to farmers who rely on that water to irrigate their crops. Farmers Maarten (41) and Christof (33) can speak for themselves: “Sports fields may still be watered, but I risk losing half of my harvest.”
