Farmers Defense Force wants to go to The Hague with tractors on Thursday for a protest | Interior

Farmers Defense Force wants to go to The Hague with tractors on Thursday to demonstrate. “The tractors are at the forefront of the battle,” said FDF foreman Mark van den Oever on Monday evening in Apeldoorn, where the farmers’ organization is meeting about the upcoming action.

Van den Oever says thousands of people are expected on Thursday. “The motivation is high,” said the FDF foreman. According to him, this applies not only to farmers, but also to citizens. The House of Representatives will debate that day about the closure of the agricultural agreement.

FDF leaves to the participants themselves how the demonstrators want to get to The Hague with the tractors. “If they come.” Van den Oever did not want to reveal exactly where FDF wants to demonstrate. Further details are still to be discussed, he said, and should become clear this week.

The municipality of The Hague does not want to say anything about how it views the plan. “We have not received any notification yet,” said a municipal spokesman. “As soon as we receive it, we will discuss how we can best facilitate the action.”

Then, according to the municipality, it will also be discussed whether and how many tractors are welcome at the farmers’ protest. In March, two tractors were allowed to be present in Zuiderpark in The Hague and they were prohibited in the rest of the city. Farmers who tried to get to the city on their tractors were stopped by the police.

call

FDF already called on farmers last week to demonstrate in The Hague at 10 a.m. on Thursday. “Many farmers are dissatisfied with the way their interests are handled. We are subject to additional requirements and wishes, but there is no guarantee whatsoever that this will serve our revenue model. The government cares very little about improving confidence, many farmers are furious about that,” said Sieta van Keimpema of FDF earlier.

At previous demonstrations, farmers went to The Hague with agricultural vehicles. “We have announced it, then people can arrange a day off,” said Van Keimpema.

Chairman Bart Kemp of Agractie, another important farmers’ group, says his organization is not involved in the protest.
