On Monday evening, many farmers and horticulturists, together with students from the Agriculture and Horticulture department of VITO, closed a part of the Freedom, in the center of Hoogstraten, with their tractors. This as a protest against the positive advice that the municipality gave to the Flemish nitrogen plan. When it turned out that the city council decided not to withdraw the advice, angry farmers tried to break into the city hall. The police had to intervene.
