Parenco produces packaging paper and other paper products. The factory is known to emit a lot of nitrogen. The province of Gelderland recently tightened up the environmental requirements for the company. That should be done by the end of 2023. Because of the high nitrogen emissions, farmers who do not agree with the cabinet’s nitrogen plans are at Parenco’s door.
The Parenco management does not want to say anything about the blockade until noon, according to a spokesperson. Earlier in the morning, the company announced that it is a public order problem that Mayor Agnes Schaap van Renkum must solve.
