Steffi Verhagen, known from Boer is looking for a Woman, hung out the flag on Wednesday morning. No, not because a foal was born or because she is pregnant again. But she did, because she is convinced that the construction of her bed and breakfast on the Rietven in Boekel can finally go ahead.
In a decision of the Council of State published this morning, she sees no substantive objections. “This is really nice, I’m happy with it.”
Ball is at the municipality
The Council of State has submitted the ball to the municipality of Boekel: it will have four months to rectify a number of shortcomings in a zoning plan. That plan clears the way for a group accommodation, four holiday homes, catering and daytime recreation at a horse farm on the Rietven in Boekel. And that horse farm belongs to the Verhagen family.
Steffi has every confidence in the municipality: “They are very positive about it and only have to work this out.” When the municipality of Boekel has done its work, the Council of State still has to formally approve. But the horse owner also has high expectations for this. “We’ve been working on it for four years, I’m counting on that we can finally start next spring.”
Local residents afraid of nuisance
Some local residents have lodged an appeal with the Council of State against the project of the Verhagen family because they are afraid of nuisance. Their objections have revealed some shortcomings in the plan.
For example, the municipality of Boekel wants a maximum of eighty beds in the accommodation at the horse farm, but the zoning plan accidentally states the number of 112 beds. The municipality also believes that recreation on the plot should remain subordinate to horse farming, but it has not properly regulated this in the zoning plan either. She was unable to respond Wednesday morning.
